A class action lawsuit is a case that is filed when a
group of
people who have had their rights violated in a similar manner, usually
by a
company or a product, come together to pursue one case. This is
oftentimes done
because each individual person that suffered harm may have minor
injuries,
making it inefficient to pursue legal compensation through an individual
claim.
However, if a group of people who’ve suffered similar injuries, no matter how minor, pursues a case on a class action basis, the value of the claims of the group as a whole can be substantial. This makes litigating on a group, or class action, basis more efficient than pursuing each case individually. This will save the court time by hearing all complaints at once, and allows for a similar resolution for all of the people in the class action.
